I was a lucky one who participated to DOUCEUR ANGEVINE. Anthony's home was marvelous, and Laura, as usual, made gorgeous cooking. We learned a lot about angevine recipes and we had a fabulous time visiting chocolate atelier and Terra Botannica. Don't miss September session.
Christianne, Angers Escapade, May 2010

What a great time we had!  It was wonderful and very relaxing.  We both really enjoyed the food, the dinners, and the outings.  Thanks to our market adventure, we have everything we need to make the galipettes.
Paul and Dee, Angers Escapade, May 2010

We loved the location of the course: the “gite” is fabulous and the area of Fontevraud and Saumur is just wonderful. Thanks for our wonderful time in The Loire. Warren and Sue, Australia, April 2010

Jim, New Mexico, January 2010

Thank you, again, for a fantastic cooking session.  It was such a delight to meet you and the experience far exceeded any of our expectations.   We are back home now and as our daughters were looking at the pictures of our class today, they begged for us to prepare the meal for them.  Rose, March 2010

It hardly seems possible that a week has passed since your class. I really enjoyed your class!  I learned so much again this time. Your teaching combined with the ambience of visiting your home creates a very distinctive experience.  Please accept my gratitude
I also enjoyed the other women who participated in the class.  Their commentaries about their own experiences in Paris and the information they shared will be helpful as I explore opportunities for my future.
Miriam, Baltimore, March 2010

Laura,  Thank you so much for today's class.  What fun it was to eat cheese, pair it with wine, and enjoy good conversation.  I think this will be the start of a wonderful adventure with cheeses!  Dee, January 2010

The class today was wonderful. I love your cheese store and meeting the other participants was a real treat. Thank you so much!!!
Barbara, January 2010

We had such a great time in your class.  I've shared your blog with my husband and some other friends that have connections to France, so I hope you get a little bit of business from our group! Thank you again for being such a special part of our celebration.  By the way, I made the pork tenderloin tonight, and it was a big hit with my family!, Kala, January 2010

A special THANK YOU for the class yesterday! The menu and food all was excellent, and the joy around your table, always fun, was exceptionally enjoyable. Thank you for all your efforts. The recipes have come through, the group photos from yesterday will keep the time always memorable. Ken loved the experience too. Priscilla, Colorado, March 2009

Thanks so much for a wonderful cooking session.  It was most enjoyable and great to experience some French Cuisine which I can put my “Aussie” style to now I am home.

Thanks once again and I will keep your details for when I return to France again. Kerri, Australia, March 2009

We would like to thank you for a wonderful three days of food and friendship. Warren and Suzan, Australia, March 2009

Laura, your classes have been a highlight of my 16 months living in Paris. In addition to the use of fresh, local market foods, you taught with enthusiasm and charm. You enlightened participants as to foods and customs of the many countries where you have lived. Your careful table settings invited eager diners, and learning a little French etiquette was a plus. I have used many of the recipes and loved them, and will continue to find new ones, and to see what’s going on on your Blog.
Now I must add that your kitchen techniques for cleaning the dishes and cooking tools have made life in the kitchen so much more satisfying. As I leave Paris I’ll admit that I am a bit envious of all those yet to come, to enjoy your kitchen, sit around your table for a complete and delicious meal, sip wine, and find new friendships, from just about anywhere in the world.
Priscilla

We had some friends round to supper last night and I cooked all three of the dishes we did with Laura. I couldn't find any guinea fowl, but used chicken instead. All three courses were fantastic and everybody really enjoyed them - many thanks Laura. Marie Ellis, UK, December 08

Learning how to cook all the recipes (free range roasted tarragon chicken, savory clafoutis, and crème de chocolat. Miam! That the party ended too soon! Wish we could stay for hours. Holly, Palm Beach, October 08

The whole experience was wonderful, the marketing, the preparation, being able to watch Laura as she explained everything so carefully, and of course the eating. I felt that we'd been invited to your home for dinner. It was a delicious meal and she made it look easy. Just being in her home, seeing her functional kitchen. She made us feeling so comfortable. We enjoyed the interesting conversations throughout the day. The size of the class was so important. Love the neighborhood too. I see others clients have also left comments on Rick Steve: It's under "Food Lovers France" in the Graffiti Wall. Judy and Don Johnson, 15 October.

Loved experiencing hands on teaching in your home and the wonderful camaraderie which developed during the class. The small size of the group allowed all to participate and made for a very intimate experience. Thank you so much, we had a wonderful time and will be back again next year. Susan Gartner, Houston, October 2008.

The entire class was enjoyable, I was especially interested in the information that Laura provided regarding the approach to French cooking and how cultural influences are represented by the style of cooking. Also, the food that we prepared was nicely presented and delicious. Kathleen Higgins, October 2008

Laura: I just wanted to tell you how much my friends and I enjoyed our cooking class at your home. It was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. Kitty Robinson, Alaska, Sep 2008

The participants and the market tour were great. At first, my husband was reluctant to take the class with me. However, seeing how the trip was my 50th birthday present and that was our last day of vacation, he decided to take the class. I must say he really enjoyed himself and he learned some information (eg you should store your eggs with the pointed side down) and great recipes. Your class size is perfect and your home is beautiful. Thank you. It was a wonderful way to wrap up our trip. Jennifer Grady, September 08

Thank you for the class – it was one of the highlights of my trip! It was wonderful to get out of tourist Paris and see a residential neighborhood. I loved going to the market and learning about the different vendors. Risa Heywood, September 2008.

I did very much enjoy your class. In fact, it was one of the highlights of my trip; and I have already signed up for your monthly newsletter. Hopefully, I will be able to join you for another class on a future trip. Shelly Lewchuk, September 2008.

My husband and I loved cooking with Laura. We cooked things we wouldn't normally try and ended up loving all of it. We are going to make the recipes at home, thanks Laura! Brittany and Joel Thomas, August 2008.

Deb and I and probably all of us, enjoyed the market. I know this sounds a bit silly, but I would not have thought to ask the producer (vegetable or meat) what is a good way to prepare something. I enjoyed the whole experience: the view from your apartment and of course your friendly ways. I hope we can come again the next time we are in Paris. Thank you! The Rutledges, July 2008

Everything was wonderful Laura. This was the highlight of our trip. Thank-you so much. Kevin, August 2008 Restaurant owner Lisa serving clafoutis of mirabelles, August 2008

I can’t believe how you managed to move 8 people from dining room to kitchen so effortlessly! Barbara, August 2008.

Our young chefs: Spencer, Sophia, and Johnny, August 08.

A private class as a souvenir from Paris!

I enjoyed this entire experience! Laura is a terrific teacher and hostess. I loved the market visit, the lessons received during food prep with an emphasis on organics, learning about French culture, and the apartment was charming. I regretted having to leave. I really admire Laura's initiative. She is amazing. Kathy Murkey, August 2008.

Thank you Laura for helping to make my vacation less a tourist experience and more a life enrichment. Carol Morotti, February 2008

Thanks Laura for a wonderful day of cooking and making new friends.
Sue Goebles
, Saint Louis, Mo.
Thank you for the lesson today. Austin and I enjoyed it very much - both the cooking and the eating. I'm sure it's going to be one of the highlights of our trip. Dee Gavora, June 2008

“My expectations were exceeded. I thoroughly will spread the “world in a pan” gospel as any person who has already visited Paris and hit the museums should absolutely take a day and spend it with Laura! It is truly a special day that I will remember/treasure forever as part of true emersion into French culture.” Robyn Ward, NY, June 2008

Jamie was a very active participant in spite of her age! Thank you Jamie, your strawberry tart was delicious!

The A World in a Pan experience is a great way to learn the culinary art of French cuisine created from local produce by a gracious hostess in her Parisian home I enjoyed the market visit, the group participation, Laura’s enthusiasm for food, and most of all sitting down and enjoying the meal with wine. Lu Ellen, May 2008

Getting the opportunity to enjoy a meal in a Parisian home; seeing old friends; learning economical techniques for ingredient usage; learning new French dishes. Dana Easley

“I would have never attempted a soufflé had I not seen one made before my eyes. Yes, I can now make souffle’s! Also, I had no idea that making soup could be so easy. That was most impressive.  I made the chestnut soup for Christmas. Now, I make potato and leek soup all the time.  I also took some new friends away from the class. Even though almost 6 months have passed I am still in touch with them! Laura was a joy and full of knowledge about cooking. Knowledge that she has gathered from around the world. Truly, I have never met anyone who has been and lived in as many countries as Laura has. Great way to spend time in Paris!” Michelle Culbertson, singer, LA.

Thank you for the wonderful experience of cooking in Paris, and I'll be sure to take another class next time I'm in the city! Erin Rohena, March 2008 www.cookingandeatinginthewindycity.blogspot.com

“We really enjoyed the class – it was one of the highlights of our trip.”  Angela, April 08

Thank you so much for a wonderful day. It was a special treat for Stephanie + I to be able to learn first hand about another culture. She loved the fact that she now knows more about goat cheese than before. I told my husband that he missed out on our day, but he is ok as long as I try to recreate our menu again! Ellen, 25-3-08

From the moment Laura waved to us at the metro stop from her balcony, we knew we were in for a wonderful adventure. She took us to the open market near her home and gave us a very informative and educational lesson on selecting the best produce, meats, fish, and cheeses. Laura is a very gracious host and made us feel very welcome in her beautiful apartment. Her kitchen is very well appointed and a great space for the cooking class. The recipes are very simple to prepare and very delicious. The fresh food selected at the market enhanced the flavors of the meal. It was very enjoyable to sit down at Laura’s dining room table and savor the meal we had prepared. We also had a wonderful conversation with Laura and the other class participant, Erin, from Chicago. It was nice for us to hear about life in Paris and discuss the differences and similarities between France and the United States. Laura also provided us with excellent information about sights and restaurants to experience during our time in Paris. The class was beyond our expectations and we look forward to taking another class when we visit Paris again. Thank you, Laura, for the best day of our trip. Jim and Janelle Gauthier, 21-3- 08

The whole class was fabulous. It is hard to choose a favorite part.  Actually, we didn’t want the class to end! Jim, March 08

Just to tell you that I am a more-than-satisfied customer of your courses. They are instructive and tasty. You have achieved a good balance of student participation. I loved the menu this time. It was simple but very good. And yes, I will make these recipes at home. Barbara Kelley, March 25, 2008

This was the highlight of our Paris trip! H, 25-2-08

“It was a “special” event and really a good surprise for me, I didn’t expect anything like this. The atelier being in English, it was also an exercise of comprehension outside the office environment.”
Lia Bevilacqua, Cooking on the Job atelier, Dec 2007

“Thank you so much for a delightful evening and for the recipes. It’s hard to choose what I enjoyed the most in this class: everything was delicious and surprisingly easy to prepare!!!
It was a real pleasure to meet Laura and discover her vision of the world – respect of environment, making cultures meet through cooking,… For the price of a restaurant meal, we had the opportunity to be proud of ourselves and to go back home with new ideas and new recipes ! I sincerely enjoyed learning from Laura! My husband is very eager to cook the recipes along with me.
Nathalie Fitoussi, Cooking on the Job atelier, Dec 2007

I enjoyed learning new recipes that are easy to replicate at home.
Céline Clavaud, Cooking on the Job atelier, Dec 2007

“I appreciate your traveling to the US. My wish is to visit Paris someday and now it may include a class at in your kitchen The crepe lesson was great. My kids love crepes and I’ve just never had a great recipe, now I do. This will be a treat for them from time to time.” Kim Murphy, Sebastopol, USA

“I enjoyed everything. I loved the small and intimate atmosphere in your home with you and my friends sharing cooking tips. The simplest suggestions were very helpful. Sitting down with friends to enjoy the meal we had prepared and of course getting to know you was delightful. I am recommending your class to my daughter who lives in Paris. Amazing, great experience, fun and educational. I love the idea that the class is in a small setting and not a huge classroom atmosphere.” Kathy, Mo. February 2008

“Laura I really enjoyed meeting you and your daughter's precious little dog. I hope the next time I come to Paris I can sign up for another class to learn more cooking tips. What are the chances of meeting another Kansas City resident in Paris at your class? That has made for great conversation at home in sharing about your class with friends. Thanks for everything. I cannot wait to make the recipes and share with friends.” Kathryn Morgan, Kansas City, February 2008

“Well we are home and our class is only a memory, but what a grand one it is!!!!!!!! It really was the perfect way to spend our final day in Paris. There is absolutely nothing I would change about your class..........it is reasonably priced, and what I loved the most was NOT being in a big cooking school classroom......being in your kitchen. Your warmth and skills in your kitchen are a winning combination, and I'm quite sure of your continued success.” Kathy Terry-Carter, Kansas City, February 2008.

“The class was fantastic
and I enjoyed meeting you, Laura, your teaching style
and every detail of our time together.
Thank you again for everything, from the artichokes to the wine, to the company,
to the follow-up.”
Gabriela Garay, Oct 2007

“Everything we made was great. (I enjoyed) the whole experience, getting to know Laura, cooking with others.” Merle & Katherine, Oct 2007
“Cooking with Laura and enjoying a meal in her home is one of the highlights of my trip to Paris.  Of course, I love the museums and the architecture, but Paris wouldn’t be Paris without the people!  I can’t imagine a more interesting way to experience Parisian culture.  I will recommend A WORLD IN A PAN to my friends traveling to Paris.” Kathy Graham Gadler, Oct 2007

“I want to thank you so much for a truly happy, inspiring and informative day.  I love your enthusiasm for cookery and already feel a change in myself! To make an art of preparing and cooking meals puts the whole thing on a different level. Thank you for the recipes.  I particularly liked the soup and the wonderfully succulent Syrian Lamb.”
With all best wishes,
Jane Helme, Oct 2007

Mariangeles Canete, Oct 2007

“Thank you for an incredible day!! I will be there on Friday as well.”
Michelle Culbertson, opera singer, Nov 2007

The train trip between Bordeaux and Marmande was a great introduction to our stay at Lafitte. The slow engine, compared to the fast TGV-Atlantique, gave us the time to see and enjoy the scenery, the sunflower fields, the tomatoe plants, the vineyards, all the elements of our eveyrday life at Gontaud. Isabelle

I think “Casual chic” best describes our stay. The imposing facade of the chateau and the casual warmth and spontaneity of Baroness Marie-Francoise! THank you for a memorable holiday! Chris

I will miss our evenings with a glass of Tariquet or Clairet wine.

I am so proud of my financier cake! I did not know baking a French cake World be that easy. Thank you Laura. Claire
"Au Bonheur des Saveurs"

Last June 23, a World in a PAN moved to the French Alps for a cooking class. Many nationalities were represented among the active participants: France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Mexico, UK, Uruguay, US.

The four course menu started with a Asparagus in puff pastry with a saffron sauce, Roasted duck breasts with a kumquat and ginger sauce, Endives in a curried vinaigrette, and a coffee flavored creme brulee. Along the meal, we enjoyed a White Macon Villages and a Saint Nicolas de Bourgeuil.

"I enjoyed listening to all your little stories & learning new cookery tips. Eating the delicious meal & socializing with the group."
Shelley Swan, Megeve
